A routine probation compliance check turned into an arrest on several counts of stolen property last month, according to the Dos Palos Police Department.
On Thursday Dos Palos police released information about a July 10 probation check of Alejandro Sanchez-Rivera at his residence. Police said during the check, Sanchez-Rivera was found to be in possession of stolen property from a burglary at the Dos Palos City Yard as well as stolen items from a grand theft at Pacific Coast Recycling on Almond Street.
Law enforcement reportedly received word that Sanchez-Rivera was also in possession of additional stolen items in Firebaugh. A second search was conducted at West Nees Avenue in Firebaugh. A commercial-grade push mower and a Husky toolbox reported stolen from the Dos Palos Cemetery District were discovered at the location.

Sanchez-Rivera was arrested on suspicion of four counts of possession of stolen property and one count of possession of a controlled substance. He is being held at the Merced County Main Jail in lieu of a $92,000 bond.
Sanchez-Rivera has been connected, by law enforcement, to three burglaries and one grand theft.
The Dos Palos Police Department has been conducting an investigation for months into repeated thefts in the industrial area of the city.
The Dos Palos Police administration issued a statement publicly thanking its staff.
“This was a combined team effort with all the officers involved. Great job DPPD, on your hard work and dedication to our community,” the administration stated.
