SF Giants excursion Aug. 21;

Patsy Cline concert Saturday

How many of us have gotten that call from our kids saying, “Where are you? Don’t you ever stay home?” Our Golden Agers members just say, “I’m on a Golden Agers trip and having a great time!”

Our trip chairs have been busy planning trips for our members. The trip to Black Oak Casino in June sold out in a day. Our trip to watch the Giants take on the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 21 will go on sale to Golden Agers members at noon on June 4 at the Los Banos Community Center. For $85, you’ll get a seat on the bus and your ticket into the ball field. This trip will be a quick sellout!

Anyone in the community can join on May 18 as the Golden Age Club is presenting a concert by Joni Morris with her Tribute to the Music of Patsy Cline. The concert will be held at the Los Banos Community Center Grand Ballroom and begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person.

A no-host bar will be available when the doors open at 6 p.m. This concert is open to club members and non-members over the age of 21. To enjoy an evening of wonderful music, please contact trip co-chairpersons Cindy Puccinelli, 209-602-0909, or Mary Rose Bretz, 209-402-4067. Limited tickets will be available at the door the day of the performance.

I’ve often said in this column that we seniors need to keep moving. We also have to feed our brains. The month of May has some great opportunities to give our brains that soothing stimulation we all need. Our local school’s music departments are filling the month with many concerts that are open to the public.

On May 15 the Los Banos High School Band and Jazz Band will hold their annual Pops Concert at 7 p.m. at Los Banos High School. On May 16 Pacheco High School Band will present their Senior Farewell Concert at 7 p.m. at the Pacheco High School Theatre.

The Los Banos High School and Creekside Jr. High Choirs will present their Farewell Concert on May 22 at 7 p.m. at Los Banos High School. On May 30 at 7 p.m. at Pacheco High School, Creekside Jr. High Wind Ensemble will present their Pops Concert.

Leading into June, the Los Banos High School Drama Department will present Shrek the Musical on May 31 at 7 p.m. On June 1 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on June 2 at 12 p.m. all drama performances will take place in the Pacheco High School Theatre.

Finally, the Los Banos Arts Council will be hosting a free concert featuring the Pacific Jazz Band on June 9 at 4 p.m. at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, 1105 Fifth St., Los Banos. Get out and enjoy the music!

The Golden Ager’s monthly dinners are always a hit and a sellout. There are more trips planned in the coming months, so become a member and don’t miss out on the fun. New memberships are open to anyone over the age of 50. Spouses who are under the age of 50 can also become members as long as the over 50 spouse maintains their membership.

Membership is only $10 per year. Membership year is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Memberships are sold at the Los Banos Community Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A final thought on what Will Rogers said years ago and it could never be more fitting than now. “We could certainly slow the aging process down if it had to work its way through Congress.”
