The date of annual Dos Palos Lions Club Cotton Festival has changed, and well, that’s a good thing.
The annual festival has been moved to early October, which means the weather should be a lot better than the heat wave that local residents are currently enduring.
The festival is currently slated to run Oct. 7to 9. The carnival will be cut down to only three days because of the availability of the ride provider. But when the carnival does arrive, it will bring to town a good assortment of thrilling rides for both young and old.
The traditional Downtown Cotton Festival Parade will start off the festivities with a 6 p.m. start on Oct. 7.
When the carnival gets underway, food booths hosted by area churches, non-profits, and individuals will open, serving a variety of homemade fare. There will also be booths featuring crafts and other items for purchase.
This year’s theme for the booth decoration contest will be “California Gold.”
The festival will also feature live music, a horseshoe tournament, and a cornhole tournament.
