The Los Banos Tiger Sharks swim team traveled to Buhach High School in Atwater for a dual meet with the Atwater Stingrays on June 30.
The Tiger Sharks defeated the Stingrays in both the boys and girls divisions, resulting in an overall victory for the local swimmers.
The Tiger Sharks outscored the Stingrays 632 to 520 in the girls division, and won the boys races by a 604 to 459 score. Los Banos won the dual meet by a combined team score of 1293 to 1089 for Atwater.
Some of the highlights of the meet for the Tiger sharks were in the girls six and under freestyle, Ynez Fernandez won first place with a time of 30.38.
For the boys six and under freestyle Jedidiah Siemiller recorded a time of 24.82 to claim that meet. In the girls 13-14 year old freestyle division Cassidy Barcellos recorded a time of 29.80 win that race.
In the boy’s 13-14 year old freestyle, Edgar Vizcarra won the race with a time of 27.28. Eirvin Rubio claimed the boys 15-16 freestyle race with his time of 25.27 seconds. In the boys 17-18 year-old breast stroke, Pacheco High School valedictorian and “Mr. Panther”, Dereck Rubio swam a 1:19.03 for the victory.
