Los Banos’ Pacheco Panther football team participated in an area 7-on-7 passing league scrimmage June 25 at Modesto’s Thomas Downey High School.

Pacheco played Hughson in their first scrimmage, and the Huskies defeated the Panthers, 2-1 in touchdowns.  The only touchdown scored by Pacheco came from

a scoring pass from first-year quarterback Aiden Huerta to Abel Bravo.

The Panthers then dropped a 3-1 decision to Stagg High School from Stockton.

The only Pacheco score was a pass from Huerta to Jesse Garcia.

The Panthers lost to the Pittman Pride by the same 3 to 1 score, with Daniel Scott

Hauling in a touchdown pass from Huerta.

In their final scrimmage the Panthers dropped a 2 to 1 decision to Gregori

High School of Modesto. Deansa Bell scored a touchdown for Pacheco.

While the Panther offense struggled, their defense had several stellar performances. Two-way starter Jesse Garcia was all over the field making play after play for Pacheco. Twin brothers Louie and Gabriel Setterberg turned in some solid defense, as did Daniel Scott and Brandon Dereza.

Pacheco coach Jeremy Siemiller’s squad returns 22 players from last year’s team, including Abraham Fernandez, Damien Taylor, C.J. Riley, Anthony Medina, Caden Hale and Juan Rodriguez, as well as Garcia, Bravo and the Setterberg brothers. The Panthers face a  tough early WAC schedule, opening with four consecutive road games: Central Valley in Ceres, Seaside, Tracy and Johansen before returning to Veterans Stadium when they host Lathrop.
