For many, May represents the end of the school year. With a busy calendar for Pacheco High students, the excitement among the graduating class is clear. While school may be near its end, the anticipation is just beginning.
The excitement began with April’s prom at Wolf Lakes in Sanger, setting the stage for what’s to come. As May unfolds, the seniors at Pacheco High have even more to look forward to. The upcoming weeks are brimming with events created to celebrate achievements and create lasting memories.
May opened with the start of Advanced Placement testing. May 17 wraps up AP testing for many seniors. With AP testing (and many finals) soon to conclude, many seniors focus on this month’s excitement.
One of the most anticipated senior events this month is grad nite from May 23 to 24. Students will meet at the school at 4 a.m. to leave Pacheco at 5:30 a.m. In past years, seniors have gone to Disneyland. This year, however, seniors will celebrate their final year as high schoolers at Universal Studios and Six Flags.
Arriving home at 4 a.m., students have time to rest before the senior banquet. At 6 p.m. on May 24, the senior banquet will allow students to gather for a meal and reflect on their high school experiences.
As May continues, a look into past accomplishments and future plans will begin with events like scholarship night on May 28, where seniors will discover the fruits of their hard work through scholarships.
Students applied for these scholarships months in advance, submitting applications that included essays and personal achievements. This event will be followed by the senior reveal and signing ceremony on May 29, an anticipatory moment as students commit to their future endeavors.
As June approaches, the pace of events only intensifies. June 3 marks a day filled with tradition and celebration, with the senior breakfast, senior awards ceremony, and scholar-athlete ceremony all taking place. The following days are no less eventful, with activities like the senior picnic, senior walk-out, and senior yearbook signing.
For graduating seniors, the realization that these events are quickly approaching brings a mix of emotions. Not only do these events mark the end of an era, but they also signify the beginning of a new chapter in our lives.
Indeed, as the days on the calendar swiftly turn, the countdown to graduation day on June 7 grows shorter. Graduation is more than a diploma: it is the culmination of years of hard work, friendships forged, and memories made.
The events leading to this moment will be memorable for all seniors participating and, one day, serve as a reminder of the class of 2024’s journey.
