Pacheco High School’s graduation ceremony took place at the PHS stadium on June 5, with many final speeches and, of course, the graduates receiving their diplomas.
Aiden Pikas, president of PHS’s Associated Student Body, led the Pledge of Allegiance to start the ceremony as soon as all the graduates had walked to their seats. Then, “The Star-Spangled Banner” was played by Pacheco’s band, joined by seniors of the band and choir.
Afterward, the president of the senior class, Ava Soberanes, gave a speech and introduced the following speaker, Riley Pepper. Members of the California Scholarship Federation were also recognized by David Curry and Jeff De La Cruz for all of their academic achievements.
In PHS history, the Class of 2026 was the largest group ever. Those going into the military, namely Abraham Almanza, who is joining the army, were honored.
Next, School Board Trustee Marlene Smith presented citizenship awards to Natalie Anguiano and Ruben Canchola. The principal’s message was then given by Principal Rebecca Salinas, who congratulated everyone on how far they’ve come and recognized all the hard work they’ve put in.
Speeches from the salutatorian and valedictorian, Jace Campos and Matthew Reyes, followed.
Finally, Dr. Daniel Sutton, director of secondary education of the Los Banos Unified School District, gave the superintendent proclamation. With the help of School Board Trustees Anthony Parreira, Dayna Valadao, Gene Lieb and Marlene Smith, they presented the graduates with their diplomas.
