The Los Banos Parks and Recreation Department will host two public meetings to discuss the Colorado Ballpark Improvements Project.

The first will be Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The second will be March 11, from 6 to 7 p.m. Both will be held at the Los Banos Community Center (645 Seventh St.)

“We need input from our community residents. We hope many people come to provide ideas and feedback on the project,” said Joe Heim, the city’s parks and recreation director.

For those unable to attend either forum they can forward comments to Heim at ParksandRecreation@LosBanos.org.

According to Heim, the Colorado Ballpark Improvements Projects will be one of the largest parks and recreation projects in the city’s history. A preliminary conceptual plan includes a complete re-construction of the park, including new ballfields and a skate park.

The project, Heim said, “represents the largest potential investment into Los Banos parks in its history, with an estimated budget of $15 million.”

Colorado Ballpark is one of the city’s older parks but has also been one of its more popular locations, Heim said, hosting Los Banos Little League since 1969. Its ballfields support community groups and thousands of visitors to the city each season. The Colorado Ballpark skate park is the city’s only skate park and a popular attraction for teens.
