Representatives of the Los Banos Unified School District are making notable progress in their establishment of the LBUSD Early Education Center.

Sherry Munday, the district’s manager of facilities and special projects, said this advanced facility will serve transitional kindergarten and preschool students, offering a modern and supportive setting for the youngest learners in the community.

The new center is scheduled to be built on a 4.58-acre site at the southwest corner of East B Street and Place Road. It will have a variety of amenities specifically geared to promote early learning and development.

The campus will include five classroom buildings that include an office/multi-purpose building, shaded playground spaces, grass-turfed play areas, and other associated hardscape and landscaping elements. The architecture of the center aims to establish a secure and engaging atmosphere for children.

The center will have a combined total of 19 classrooms, with 15 specifically allocated for transitional kindergarten students and four for preschoolers. The distribution of classes has been organized to guarantee that both age groups get the required educational materials and attention.

Every classroom will be furnished with learning materials and technology that are suitable for the students’ age to help facilitate the district’s early education program.

According to Munday, the project’s timeframe is demanding but efficient. The bidding process for the building of the center will begin on July 24. The bids will be evaluated, and the final decision will be submitted to the Board on Aug. 8.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early September. The target date for completion and operating status of the center is August 2025, coinciding with the commencement of the new academic year.

Aside from the physical infrastructure, the early education center will integrate many programs and activities with the goal of fostering comprehensive development. The playground areas will provide students with a secure environment for outdoor play, and the grassy spaces will allow children to participate in physical activities and to socialize with others.

The establishment of the new facility signifies a substantial financial commitment toward the welfare and development of the youngest members of Los Banos, exemplifying the district’s dedication to delivering exceptional early education, Munday said.

She believes the new center will serve as a prominent institution for early childhood education, establishing a benchmark for future initiatives and guaranteeing that all children in the district have equitable access to the necessary resources for their success.
