While summer is a time for relaxation and a well-deserved break from the stresses of school and work, keeping active by participating in community events is essential. This summer, the Los Banos Salvation Army is offering free summer camps to give children the opportunity to have a fun, safe and memorable summer experience.

According to Jennifer Cortez, the major for the Los Banos Salvation Army, there will be two summer camps with 10 openings each for children ages 8 to 12 this summer: the first takes place from June 17 to June 22, and the second occurs between June 24 and June 29.

Kids can enjoy and look forward to hands-on projects, outdoor recreation and educational activities during these summer camps. The Los Banos Salvation Army strives to make its summer camps simultaneously entertaining and educational, as it encourages children to develop social skills through leadership training, community service projects and team-building activities.

In the grand scheme of things, the Los Banos Salvation Army isn’t only interested in giving the children a memorable summer experience but endeavors to help them grow up to become altruistic, well-rounded citizens and individuals.

By offering free admissions, the Los Banos Salvation Army is doing yet another service for the community. According to Cortez, children of higher socioeconomic standing are more likely to enjoy meaningful childhood experiences.

The no-cost admissions to the summer camps allow all Los Banos children to participate and enjoy an unforgettable summer where they can establish new friendships and learn new skills fundamental to their growth and development.
