David Lee Baker passed away on August 7th, 2023 after a brief illness involving cancer at the age of 79. He passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side, surrounded by love.
David was born to Bill and Lorene in 1943 and raised in Chowchilla on his family’s dairy and graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1961. He attended Cal Poly SLO for two years and then started farming in Chowchilla. David married Leslie Eastman in 1966. Throughout his life he farmed and ranched on numerous ranches throughout the state. He also purchased several commercial properties in California and Idaho. He was passionate about farming and business and loved the thrill of making a deal. He knew many people and touched many lives during his lifetime.
David enjoyed traveling, especially to Costa Rica and had many adventures wherever he went. He lived a full life and made every second count, no matter what he was doing.
David is survived by his daughter, Lisa and son Cameron and grandsons, Broderick, Grant, and Reid.
David leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and lots of friends that he has met and worked with throughout his life.
There will be a visitation for David on his brother Marshall’s birthday which is August 16th, 2023 at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel in Chowchilla from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. David will then be laid to rest with his siblings, Madelyn, Marshall and Betty and Mother and Daddy at the Chowchilla Cemetery District on his mother’s birthday August 17th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. David will be taking one Final Loop around his Ranch at 8:30 a.m. before heading to the cemetery, for anyone that would like to see him off.
Dad lived the last years of his life at the Chowchilla Skilled Nursing Facility and his family would like to say Thank You to the staff for their loving care and kindness and professionalism in caring for David. We appreciate all of the activities and community events that we could share with him and make memories.
