The Los Banos Tiger boys’ basketball team improved their 2022-23 season record to 10-2 overall and 1-0 in Western Athletic Conference play on Jan. 4, with a 62-58 victory over the Beyer Patriots in Modesto,

The Tigers opened up a big first-period lead, outscoring Beyer 20-8, and Los Banos made it 38-24 at halftime. The Tigers used a balanced offense, with Kayson Welch (16 points), Anthony Michael (12 points), and Caleb Robertson (13 points) all scoring in double figures, and really strong defense from Welch, Robertson, Ayden Barcellos to build up their 14-point halftime lead.

Los Banos closed out the third quarter with a 55-43 advantage, but Beyer staged a strong charge in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 15-7 to close the gap to 62-58.  Los Banos used strong pressure defense late in the game to claim the victory.

Despite the 23-point performance by Tiger Freshman Eric Ramos, the Los Banos JV basketball team lost a close game to Beyer, 46-41. Byron Zuniga added six points for the Tigers, and Jack Goodger and Aaron Briseno each scored five points for Los Banos.
