According to the Merced County Office of Elections website, with 100 percent of the votes counted, Paul Llanez was elected mayor of Los Banos while Douglas Begonia, Jr., was elected to the Los Banos City Council and Dana Valadao to the Los Banos School Board.
Llanez received 3,325 votes, with 399 write-in votes cast. For Los Banos City Council District 2, Begonia received 575 votes to Refugio Llamas’ 391, with 14 write-ins.
Brett Jones, running unopposed for the Los Banos Council District 3, received 1,054 votes with 53 write-ins. Lucille Mallonee, running unopposed for Los Banos City Clerk received 3,456 votes, with 179 write-ins.
For Los Banos School Board Area 7, Valadao received 461 votes to Raymond Martinez’s 196, with nine write-ins.
One Los Banos city position remains a question mark. No one ran for the office of city treasurer. At some point the city council will need to appoint a person to fill that position.
The vote count will become final when the county elections office submits the certified official totals, within 30 days of the Nov. 8 election.
