At the Sept. 15 meeting of the Dos Palos Oro Loma School District Board, the main topic was a fire at Dos Palos High School. On the morning of Sept. 14, a fire broke out at the school.  Classes were canceled throughout the week, and students returned to school on Sept. 19.

During the meeting Dos Palos High school principal Doreen Castillo and assistant principal Sergio Padilla gave thanks to the Dos Palos High School staff, community members and first responders for their support.  The Board of Trustees also approved a resolution to speed up the bid process for reconstruction.

The board also recognized 72 Marks Elementary and Dos Palos High School students for exceeding CAASP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) standards in at least one subject.

CAASP testing included English language, math and science.  One student exceeded standards in all three tests, and another student exceeded standards in all three tests, while also receiving a perfect score in the English language test.

The board congratulated all 72 students on their accomplishments.
