On Oct. 3 the city of Los Banos conducted a lottery of all nonprofit organizations that submitted a request to operate a fireworks booth next summer.

A city ordinance allows for one booth per 5,000 residents. The latest census shows 46,000 residents of Los Banos and as a result, nine booths were chosen along with four alternates.

Those chosen were Everlasting Church, Los Banos Arts Council, Creepy Critters Rescue, OLF 4-H, Los Banos Community 4-H, Los Banos Elks, Los Banos Tiger Youth Football, Soroptimist of Los Banos, and the Los Banos Lions Club.

First through fourth alternates were, respectively, Los Banos Ag Boosters, Los Banos Downtown Association, Salvation Army, and Los Banos United Methodist Church

Later, the Los Banos Community 4H decided to partner with OLF 4H, who also was chosen, for one booth. As a result, the first alternate, Los Banos Ag Boosters, was approved for a booth.
