My name is Daniela Macias. I’m a junior Creative Media student at CSU Stanislaus. It’s only my second semester as a transfer student, but I’ve gotten pretty involved. College definitely keeps me busy. I am the Special Events Coordinator for the Communication Club and I’m taking 17 units this semester. I also work as the Student Engagement Communications Coordinator with Associated Students Inc. and the Student Center at CSU Stan.
In addition, I’m an ambassador for GRAMMY U, a membership program through the Recording Academy designed for college students pursuing careers in the music industry.
I chose to major in Creative Media because of my passion for journalism, as well as photography and graphic design. After graduation, I hope to build a career as either a music journalist or an investigative journalist.
When I am not busy with school, work or extracurriculars, I like to spend time with family, friends and my three crazy dogs. Some of my hobbies include running, writing, photography and junk journaling.
I am excited to be interning for The Westside Express. It will be my first time writing for a newspaper, so I am eager to see what that entails. My experience writing articles and interviewing sources started with volunteering for several different music blogs.
During my first semester as a Stan State student, I wrote for the Signal, the official CSU Stan news site. It was an incredible experience and further solidified my passion for journalism.
I like to write about topics that interest me on Substack, a digital publishing platform that allows every kind of writer to share newsletter-style content with their subscribers.
My drive for journalism stems from my passion for storytelling and writing. Whether I’m covering campus events or interviewing independent music artists, I’m excited to continue to grow as a writer and storyteller with The Westside Express.
