A Dos Palos woman, who was allegedly driving drunk in Los Banos, veered off the road and crashed into a garage, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Shannon Stiers, spokesman for the CHP Los Banos office, said a Toyota Rav 4 was driving on Ward Road south of Philips Road on Nov. 11 at approximately 10:30 p.m. The vehicle left Ward Road, traveled through a field, and came to a stop after crashing into a privately owned garage, Stiers said. No one was injured in the incident, and the property owners were not at the location.
A CHP officer and a sergeant came upon the scene and encountered the driver, 25-year-old Viviana Ramirezozaine of Dos Palos. Law enforcement administered a field sobriety test and determined Ramirezozaine had been driving drunk, Stiers said.
Ramirezozaine was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and driving without a license. She was booked into Merced County Main Jail and later released on her own recognizance.
Stiers said he implores people not to drink and drive.
“If you’re going to drink, don’t drive,” he said. “Luckily nobody was hurt in this. The holiday season is here, and if you’re going to celebrate, call a friend, get a cab, get an Uber. There are so many ways not to drink and drive.”
