A Dos Palos High School employee who is also a basketball coach is now facing multiple charges for alleged inappropriate conduct with an underage teenager.

The Los Banos Police Department announced that Los Banos resident Jerry Warren, 31, was originally arrested on the afternoon of March 17 in the 700 block of Skylark Drive.

Los Banos Police Commander Justin Melden reported that officers were called to the residence for a report of a domestic dispute. Melden said that after investigating, officers arrested Warren on one count of misdemeanor domestic assault.

“Mr. Warren was transported to our Los Banos facility,” said Melden, adding that Warren soon bailed out.

However, two days later Los Banos Police re-arrested Warren and added charges of Corporal Injury on a Minor and Contacting a Minor with Intent for Sex.

Andrew Schwab, the superintendent of the Dos Palos/Oro Loma Joint Unified School District, told The Express that Warren was hired as the varsity boys basketball coach in December of 2022 and was then hired as an Intervention Center Coordinator in August of 2023.

However, as the 2024-25 high school basketball season got underway, Warren stopped coaching the team after just a few games. He then resurfaced as a volunteer assistant coach for the Los Banos High boys basketball team where he reportedly coached until the end of the high school season in February.

In a released statement, Schwab also said that the school district is currently investigating the matter and Warren was placed on administrative leave.

“We cannot comment on specific personnel matters as the district is limited in what details it can disclose due to student and employee privacy,” said Schwab. “We understand the impact the incident may have on our school community, and we are committed to providing support to students. parents and staff.”

He added that student safety remains the district’s top priority.

“We are fully cooperating with law enforcement and will continue to do so throughout the course of its investigation, he said.

Phone calls and text messages to Warren made by the Express for his comment were not returned.
