On Jan. 19 at about 6 p.m., the Los Banos Fire Department, along with the Merced County Fire Department, responded to a reported fire in the back yard of a residence in the 1100 block of Overland Ave.
According to Los Banos Fire Chief Paul Tualla, upon arrival, crews observed smoke and heavy fire coming from the rear and side yard of the residence. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack on a fifth-wheel trailer adjacent to the home. A search of the fifth- wheel was conducted and no victims were found.
The fire was contained to the fifth-wheel trailer. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
