Man on motorized bicycle hospitalized after being struck by car.
According to Acting Los Banos Police Chief Justin Melden, at about 9 p.m. on Jan. 3, a 38-year old Los Banos man was traveling northbound on Ward Road on a modified motorized bicycle when he was struck by a car.
Melden said the man entered the intersection on his bicycle at Pacheco Boulevard and was in the center of the intersection when he was struck by a car being driven eastbound in the number two lane of Pacheco Boulevard.
According to Melden the car had the green light and its female driver did not see the bicyclist who was wearing dark clothing and had no lights on his bicycle.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, Melden said. He was transported by ambulance to a Modesto hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to Melden.
No drugs or alcohol were connected with the driver of the car.
Melden said he thanks the witnesses on scene who helped piece together information about the accident.
