Local home developer and farmer Greg Hostetler, who has given away turkeys for Thanksgiving for more than three decades, will continue the tradition of giving in memory of his wife Cathie, who died in 2010, by again giving away 500 turkeys on Nov. 13 to Los Banos residents at the O’Banion Pavilion at the Los Banos Fairgrounds. The giveaway will be on a first-come, first-serve basis from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is a limit of one turkey per household. Recipients must show address and identification. In 2019, the first person in line at the Los Banos Fairgrounds arrived at 3:30 a.m.
A similar giveaway will also take place for Merced residents on Tues., Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Razzari Ford, 1234 Auto Center Drive in Merced.
