After dropping their first two exhibition games of the 2024 football season, the Los Banos Tiger junior varsity football squad (4-2 overall, 1-0 CCC) defeated the El Capitan Gauchos, 34-14 to claim their fourth consecutive victory and first win in their new CCC conference.
The young Tigers scored four offensive touchdowns and used a “pick six” pass interception on defense to roll to their decisive victory over the Gauchos.
The Tigers used the overall excellent play of quarterback Moises Perez (3/4 passing, 54 yards, 2 TD’s, 15 carries, 64 yards, TD) and the power running of Michael Coehlo (8 carries, 96 yards, TD) to cross the Gaucho goal line four times, as they rolled out to 28-7 advantage, and never looked back en route to their 34-14 victory.
Defensively Los Banos was led by Zayden Affonso-Stiers and Isis Villagrana, who recorded eight tackles each, followed by Joshua Montes, Julian Mercado and Joel Garza, who each added six stops for the Tigers.
