After losing its only game of the 2022 season last week to Liberty Ranch of Madera, the Dos Palos Bronco junior varsity football team rebounded with a 27-0 shutout victory against the Pioneer Valley Panthers Sept. 9 in Santa Maria.
The young Broncos (3-1) played an outstanding game on defense limiting the Panthers to less than 90 yards of offense.
Trevon Vincent paced Dos Palos with four pass interceptions, stalling Pioneer Valley’s offensive drives.
Dominic Esquivel was all over the field making his game-high nine tackles, and Anthony and Alonzo Del Rio added five stops each for Dos Palos.
Andre Flores opened the game for the Broncos with a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. With the conversion Dos Palos took the early lead and never looked back.
Freshman quarterback Gavin Blackwood-Estrada had another excellent night for the Broncos, completing 3 of 4 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Estrada connected with Lolo Clark on an 18-yard scoring pass in the first quarter and with Alexis Lorenzo on an 88-yard bomb in the fourth quarter.
Estrada added 27 yards on the ground, including a touchdown from two yards out. Esquivel helped the Bronco offense with 64 yards rushing on only four carries.
