A Santa Nella man, who is a convicted felon, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly possessing a firearm, according to the Los Banos Police Department (LBPD).
Police said that on July 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the department’s gang unit was on patrol in the 1100 block of H Street along the Rail Trail.
Officers reportedly encountered 23-year-old Hector Noe Martinez Jr. of Santa Nella. Police learned Martinez was on probation and therefore subject to a random search.
Police said the subsequent pat-down revealed a concealed loaded pistol. As a convicted felon, Martinez is prohibited from having a firearm or ammunition, police said.
Martinez was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, violating probation, possessing a controlled substance, possessing unlawful paraphernalia and being an addict in possession of a firearm.
Martinez was booked into the LBPD Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond. Anyone with information about this case can contact Officer Efren Fernandez at 209-827-2538 or at efren.fernandez@losbanos.org.
