Pickleball players and community members will soon have a reason to celebrate as the City of Los Banos Parks and Recreation Department hosts the grand opening of nine new pickleball courts at the AG Sports Complex.
The celebration will take place on July 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the AG Sports Complex, located at 700 N. Mercey Springs Road. The event will mark the completion of the city’s first publicly owned pickleball courts, which were funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.
Residents are invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and enjoy a morning of family-friendly activities, including bounce houses, a food truck and opportunities to learn the game and be among the first players to use the new courts.
According to the Parks and Recreation Department, the project is the latest addition to the ongoing improvements made at the AG Sports Complex over the past several years.
Since 2021, the complex has seen the construction of a dog park, the reconstruction of restroom facilities in 2023, and several upgrades completed in 2025, including renovations to two sports fields, new warm-up areas and two new playgrounds.
City officials described the completion of the courts as a long-awaited project and an exciting addition to recreational opportunities in Los Banos. The new facility is expected to provide residents of all ages with a place to stay active, socialize and enjoy one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
Community members are encouraged to attend the grand opening celebration and help welcome a new chapter for recreation in Los Banos. Organizers hope visitors will “arrive as a stranger, leave as a friend” as they gather to celebrate the newest addition to the AG Sports Complex.
