Families, friends and community members filled Henry Miller Plaza on Saturday evening as Los Banos celebrated the Fourth of July with food, music, carnival activities and fireworks.
The celebration, hosted by the Los Banos Downtown Association, began at 6 p.m. and brought together residents from Los Banos and nearby towns for an evening of patriotic spirit and family entertainment.
Families arrived with lawn chairs, children wore red, white and blue, and community members gathered downtown to celebrate Independence Day together.
The event was made possible through a partnership between the Los Banos Downtown Association, the City of Los Banos, the Los Banos Police Department and the Los Banos Fire Department. Their support helped provide a safe and enjoyable celebration for the community.
Morning Star served as the presenting sponsor, with volunteers, vendors, entertainers and others working behind the scenes to help make the event possible.
Throughout the evening, the plaza was full of activity. Children enjoyed games, carnival rides, face painting and coloring activities while families visited food vendors, arts and crafts booths and local community displays.
The celebration also included live music from the stage, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere as people gathered across the plaza.
The carnival added another major attraction to the event. Presented by Teaco Amusements, the carnival brought rides, games, food vendors and family entertainment to downtown Los Banos. Tickets were available for rides and games, and the carnival continued as part of the Fourth of July weekend celebration.
One of the unique displays at the event was Pura Vida Earth, created by Ronny Navarro of Ronny’s Landscaping. Navarro brought a small rainforest-inspired display with plants, water features and animals, giving children and families a chance to experience a piece of nature during the celebration.
“I like doing this,” Navarro said. “A lot of the kids, they don’t go to the rainforest, so they get to see it here. Sometimes they spend all their life here, and they never went to see a rainforest. There are beautiful places to go.”
Navarro also stated he was happy to see the Fourth of July celebration bring the community together, calling the event “pretty awesome” and noting the large crowd enjoying the evening with perfect weather.
The patriotic theme could be seen throughout the plaza, from American flags and red, white and blue decorations to a large “USA” display where families stopped to take photos.
Many attendees also dressed in patriotic clothing, including Franklin Oliveira, who appeared in a festive Santa-style outfit and held an America 250 flag. His presence added to the fun and cheerful spirit of the celebration.
This year’s event also carried special meaning as the country prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026. For Los Banos, the Fourth of July celebration offered a local way to honor the nation’s independence while also celebrating community pride.
The fireworks show began at 9:05 p.m., lighting up the sky above downtown Los Banos and bringing the evening to a memorable close.
Families watched from the plaza and surrounding areas as the fireworks became the highlight of the night. The celebration gave residents a chance to enjoy Independence Day close to home while supporting local vendors, entertainers and community organizations.
With music, food, children’s activities, carnival rides and fireworks, the event reflected the important role downtown celebrations continue to play in bringing Los Banos together.
