Over this past weekend, the Los Banos Tigers boys and girls wrestling teams participated in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Central Section Regional Wrestling Tournaments.

The Tigers girls traveled to Central Valley High School in Ceres and finished in ninth place, the highest finish ever by a Tigers girls team. It was led by Angelina Borelli, who captured the regional championship and earned a place on the Los Banos Tigers wrestling wall.

Five other Tigers girls qualified for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Masters Tournament this Saturday in the Stockton Arena.

Ally Salas (seventh), Angeline Tovar (seventh), Miranda Navarette (eighth), Ximena Cardenas (eighth) and Angelina Hernandez (eighth) will all be competing for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament. They might also qualify for the CIF State Championships.

At Vista del Lago High School in Folsom, the Tigers boys team finished with a very impressive fifth-place record and qualified nine wrestlers for the masters tournament this weekend.

Xander Solis earned a divisional championship and a place on the Tigers wrestling program championship wall.

He led the team along with Michael Coelho (second), Arthur Fernandez (third), Zander Gonzalez (fourth), Luke Borelli (fourth), Udaijot Gakhal (fifth), Isis Villagrana (fifth) and Robert Chavez (seventh). They will all compete on Feb. 21.
