The Christmas Season is in full swing in Dos Palos.

It started last Thursday evening with the annual Downtown Christmas Parade.

Next up will be the Eagle Field Family Christmas Party followed by the Community Christmas Decorating Contest.

The Eagle Field Dinner will take place this Saturday at Del Hale Hall. Hosted by the Dos Palos Lions Club, the annual celebration will start at 4 p.m. with cocktails. The dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and there will also be a live and silent auction as well as a raffle for a variety of nice prizes.

There will also be a toy drive for local youth and attendees are urged to bring an unwrapped toy for children three to eight years old. Those who do bring a toy will be entered into a special drawing.

Tickets are $30 per person and can be obtained by calling Rocky Phillips at 559-351-3537.

The Lions Club is also sponsoring the Christmas Decorating Contest.  There will be an Overall Sweepstakes Winner and also the Best Business Award.  First and Second Place awards will be given to homes in town as well as outside the city limits.  For more information about the contest, contact Donald Vincent at 209-761-5422. Judging will be done around December 23rd.

Downtown Dos Palos was packed for the annual parade, which had a theme of “A Candyland Christmas.” The parade route was lined with families as the parade marched down Blossom Street. Miss Dos Palos Grace Soares led the parade, followed by a performance by the Dos Palos High School Band. Both the high school and youth cheerleaders marched, and there was a good number of farm equipment, including vintage models.

Employees of the Dos Palos Post Office were also out to collect letters that will be sent to Santa Claus, and two horse-riding units were also a part of the evening.

Longtime parade organizer Shelly Wright noted that “the evening went great.”
