The Los Banos Future Farmers of American (FFA) Chapter held its monthly meeting on Sept. 8 and continued its long-standing tradition of giving back globally.

Each year at the September FFA meeting, members participate in donating chewable vitamins to children in Guatemala, a project that has become embedded in the yearly ritual of the chapter’s service efforts. This year, the chapter collected 215 bottles of vitamins.

Alumna chapter member, Jen Barcellos, personally delivers the donations to Jardin de Amor, a school in Guatemala, during her annual trip. “I am so grateful for all the years FFA at Los Banos High has been giving the children’s vitamins to Jardin de Amor,” Barcellos said.

She continued, “You are providing children who live in a country where one in every two children suffers chronic malnutrition. These vitamins are relieving this problem at the school there.

“Thank you for making a difference and teaching our youth to give back to those who are born into extreme poverty. Bless you all from the bottom of my heart!”

The chapter’s consistent efforts provide critical nutrition to children in need while also teaching members the importance of service and global citizenship.

Thanks to the generosity of its members, the chapter once again had a successful turnout and continues to have a lasting influence beyond the community.
