The Society of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is extending a warm invitation on the occasion of the 92nd Anniversary of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Celebration.
The Celebration Mass, featuring classic Italian hymns, will be on July 13 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Following the Mass, there will be a luncheon at the D.E.S. Hall and an auction with traditional homemade foods and crafts, in addition to donations from members and the business community.
The Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is July 16, when she appeared to Saint Simon Stock on July 16, 1251 after he returned to his native England.
He had a strong desire to join the Carmelite hermits who lived on Mount. Carmel, but they were forced to migrate to Europe due to Christian persecution.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel gave St. Simon the gift of the Brown Scapular, a sign of salvation, a safeguard in danger and a pledge of Mary’s special protection.
New members will be invested with the Brown Scapular at the Benediction on July 13. For more membership information, contact Tracey at 209-826-0903.
