Dear Editor,
In Atwater, the Castle Air Force Base set up the Tarmac to accommodate 15 taco trucks, providing tables, chairs, etc. The variety is extensive from serving pizza, pasta, tacos, corn and specialties like different flavored pretzels.
People from all over Central Valley are flocking to Atwater for a new experience of a Taco Truck Heaven. There’s entertainment, different events, music, etc. It’s memorable.
I’ve lived in Los Banos for 25 years, and it’s been said and heard many times that Los Banos is not a business-friendly community. Obstacles, ordinances and especially code enforcement have driven businesses away from Los Banos.
The owner of the new Pollo Loco stated years ago, when the Los Banos code enforcement officer was citing businesses, that he was hesitant to build a restaurant in Los Banos.
This community looks forward to a new city ordinance on taco trucks, not only to address tables and chairs, but also to eradicate the recurring $800 relocation fees. If a location is not profitable or if a private property owner decides not to renew a rental agreement, why would it be necessary to pay $800 again?
We need a new perspective on attracting more businesses. Let’s start with taco trucks. I know where I’ll be this next weekend – at the Atwater Castle Air Force Tarmac Taco Truck Heaven. I’ve invited a group of friends to join me.
