On May 6, Dos Palos High School put together and held their annual talent show, which was a huge success. This year, the talent show had a total of four contestants with two special guests, as well as judges Nikki Pigg, Dallas Lockhart and Daryl Catrina.

The participants practiced for a few weeks to pull off their performances. In the end, everything went as planned. The audience had fun and enjoyed all their performances.

Opening the show was beloved DPHS teacher Paul Treso, one of the special guests of the day. He presented a lovely act where he sang the song “Sweet Caroline.” The crowd loved the performance and heavily interacted with his act.

After Treso, the first contestant, Maya Grant, sang “Part of Your World.” Earlier that morning, a bad cough made it difficult for Grant to sing the whole song during rehearsal. However, she went on and gave a beautiful performance regardless.

The second contestants were a duo of two seniors, Nira Magdaleno and Gisselle Garcia. They sang the song “Carino.” It was a wonderful act where both students were able to showcase their voices in the form of a beautiful song.

Then came the performance of Emilio Aguirre. Not only did Aguirre go up and sing, but Aguirre sang an original song, a feat which many people wouldn’t have the courage to do.

The last contestants to go up on stage were Jason Sanchez and Joshua Rosales, also known as the J&J Band. They went up and performed the song “Dear Maria, Count Me In.” They had an amazing and fun performance.

Lastly, the last special guest went up. It was another beloved DPHS teacher, April Hogue, who performed yet another song, where she captivated the audience with her talent. The crowd loved her voice and the fun energy she displayed.

When all acts were done, it was time to choose a winner. The fan favorite was picked by the crowd, Emilio Aguirre. Then the three judges cast their votes.

The winner of this year’s talent show was Maya Grant.
