With 28 schools competing to move on to the Valley Masters Track Meet, both the Dos Palos High and Firebaugh High boys track squads made a great showing at the Div. IV finals held last Friday at Caruthers High School.

Immanuel-Reedley won the team event with 88 points, followed by San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno with 72 points. Host Caruthers came in third with 68 points followed by Dos Palos with 56.  The rest of the Top Ten were Bakersfield Christian (45), Sierra-Tollhouse (33), Garces Memorial-Bakersfield, Firebaugh (27), Orcutt Academy (27) and Fresno Christian (25).

Bronco sprinter Jesus Bon had a banner day taking a pair of wins championships.

Bon won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.72, better than second-place Bronson Williams of St. Joseph’s-Santa Maria (22.46).

He followed that up by winning the 400-meter race with a winning time of 48.69.  Lucca Marshall of San Joaquin Memorial placed second at 50.26.

He finished up his day by placing fourth in the 100-meter race with a time of 11.09. Cole Torres of Immanual won the race with a winning time of 11.04, followed in second by Dominic Reyna of San Joaquin Memorial (11.05) and Evan Esparza of Orange Cove (11,08).

Firebaugh High senior Corbin Diedrich placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.47.  Sierra High’s Chayce Duerksen won the event with a time of 15.15, and Jacquez Jones of Dos Palos was third (15.51).

In the 4×100 relay, the Bronco team of Eric Franco, Jones, Andre Flores and Bon came in third behind winner, San Joaquin Memorial, and second-place Immanuel.

Diedrich teamed with Vicente Madrigal, Andrew Aguilar and Julian Garcia to place third in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:34. Memorial won the event followed by Mission Prep-San Luis Obispo.

Jones of Dos Palos came in third in the high jump with a leap of 6’0”. Grant Mueller of Bakersfield won with a leap of 6’6”.

In the discus, Bronco Esteban Hernandez placed second behind winner Lucky Raynor of Caruthers.

Firebaugh also received team points in the triple jump as Leonardo Perez came in fifth with a leap of 41’1”.
