The Los Banos High School Art Club is finishing the year with mural projects, a donation drive and end-of-year celebrations, all while planning ahead for even more creative projects in the future.

As part of their final project, club members have been invited to help paint new murals on the baseball dugouts behind campus. The design will feature the school’s iconic yellow “LB” logo outlined in white. To speed things along, the club is planning a weekend painting session to complete the project.

The mural work ties into a larger initiative to revitalize art across campus. LBHS Principal Jason Waltman recently partnered with the art club to help restore and update several older murals, including the well-known tiger mural behind the main office.

Club members are excited to take on the challenge and help preserve the school’s visual identity.

In addition to their mural efforts, the art department is launching a notebook donation drive this month. Students are encouraged to donate small notebooks, which will be sent to troops overseas to blend creativity with community service.

Donation boxes are located in all art department classrooms, and students can earn up to two activity points by donating directly to Mrs. Sagouspe’s classroom.

As the year winds down, art club members can look forward to a celebratory end-of-year potluck where they’ll share food and snacks and reflect on their projects and accomplishments.

Seniors active throughout the year will also be honored with cords to wear at graduation to recognize their commitment and contributions to the club. A class period will be set aside where seniors can decorate their cords by adding paint splatters, which allows them to add a personal touch.

Looking ahead, the art club already has plans in motion for next year, including mural projects for the softball dugouts on campus and the Los Banos Art Council.
