The Merced College Los Banos Campus will host its third annual commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. May 22. This year’s keynote speaker will be Los Banos Mayor Michael Amabile, a Merced College alumnus and longtime public official.
Nearly 200 local graduates are eligible for this year’s ceremony, reflecting the continued growth and popularity of the Westside event. The college has expanded seating for the audience in anticipation of record attendance.
“Each year, we’ve seen more and more students and families embrace this celebration in their own community,” said Dr. Jessica Moran, Dean of Instruction at the Los Banos Campus. “It’s exciting to see our campus and our programs growing—and to be able to celebrate our students’ success close to home.”
The Class of 2025 includes the first cohort of LBC’s Child Development Program graduates, along with students from across a wide range of academic and career-focused pathways. Los Banos students earned a total of 633 awards, including 278 degrees and 355 certificates.
Honors designations, for those with GPAs of 3.5 or higher and a minimum of 45 units completed, were awarded to 48 students, and 10 students earned Superintendent’s Honors by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA with at least 36 units completed.
