The Los Banos High School swim team delivered a powerful performance on Senior Night and defeated Golden Valley High School. The varsity girls won with a commanding score of 105-21, while the varsity boys followed with a score of 103-20.

The evening was filled with great performances from both underclassmen and upperclassmen, showcasing the strength of the Los Banos team. Senior Cassidy Barcellos led the charge for the girls with a first-place finish in the 200 Individual Medley.

Junior Samantha Pantoja impressed the crowd by capturing two wins in the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Butterfly. Pantoja has been a force throughout the season, qualifying for sections in both events and is set to represent Los Banos on May 9.

Mia Duran, another rising star on the girls’ team, claimed first in the 100 Breaststroke. Duran has continued to improve meet after meet, and her strong finish on Senior Night was another step forward in an already impressive season.

On the boys’ side, the seniors delivered dominant performances. Gannon Lemos, in his final home meet, secured first in the 100 Freestyle. Senior Christian Torres took the win in the 200 Individual Medley. Edgar Vizcarra doubled up with wins in both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke.

Freshman Oliver Jou impressed the crowd with a win in the grueling 500 Freestyle, and freshman Ian Villavaso showed his potential by claiming first in the 100 Butterfly.

While the night belonged to the seniors, the future of Los Banos swim looks bright. Pantoja and Duran, both underclassmen, continue to rise as leaders.

Sophomore Madelyn Savage has shown a lot of growth and consistency, and the freshman class has already shown a lot of potential this season. Oliver Jou, JakeRyan Torres, Ian Villavaso and Jazlyn Cintora have all made strong contributions this season.

As the Tigers prepare to say goodbye to a talented group of seniors, including Cassidy Barcellos, April Cunha, Rosie Banuelos, Ava Felix, Gannon Lemos, Edgar Vizcarra, Jared van Loben Sels and Christian Torres, they will continue to improve and grow.
