Pacheco 14, Livingston 0: With four games remaining the Pacheco baseball team was looking to finish the season strong in a series with Livingston last week.
Livingston entered the week holding on to slim chances of reaching the postseason with a sweep and some help. The host Panthers did their part to help eliminate the Wolves from postseason contention.
Tucker Kim got his third start of the season and the sophomore right handed pitcher proved to be ready, firing a five inning run rule shortened one hitter. Kim would finish with just one hit allowed, no walks and two strikeouts while relying on his defense to shut down Livingston.
The Pacheco offense would get started in the first after leadoff hitter Aidan Pikas walked, stole second and third and then came home on a wild pitch. But the real damage came in the second inning with Jacob Sanchez starting the inning off reaching first on a dropped third strike. Two walks and two hit batters followed before RBI singles from Nate Rogers and Thomas Price would cap off a six run second inning.
Pacheco would end the game early thanks to a big fourth inning. Rogers led off with another hit followed by two more walks to load the bases. With two outs Jonathan Shryock was hit by a pitch and then Pikas and Kim followed with RBI singles. Mario Rivera capped the inning with a bases clearing triple and scored on a Dylan Alpi single.
Pacheco 10, Livingston 1:Thursday evening featured a marquee pitching matchup under the lights at Alvarnez Field in Livingston. Danny Avila came into the game off of a 20 strikeout performance against Johansen the week before and Pacheco countered with hard throwing freshman lefty Mario Rivera.
The first inning looked as though the first team to score would win between the two aces on the mound. However the second inning saw the Panther bats come to life led by a leadoff double from Thomas Price. Jacob Sanchez reached on a bunt single and both were brought home on a Jonathan Shryock base hit for a 2-0 lead after two innings. Price would drive in Aidan Pikas who led off the third inning with a single to give Pacheco a 3-0 lead in the third inning. The Panther offense would tack on two runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings and a single run in the sixth to make it a 10-1 finish. Price would finish with three hits, Pikas and Sanchez added two as well. Rivera proved dominant on the mound with a complete game allowing just two hits, walking one and striking out 13. Pacheco is off this week and will conclude the 2025 season with games against Lathrop next week.
