On Monday and Thursday last week, the Creekside Junior High School Cougars claimed two decisive victories over the Huron Aztecs and the Dos Palos Broncos.

On Monday, the Cougars used a 15-hit attack to steamroll the Huron Aztecs by 16–1.

Every Cougars starter reached base at least twice, paced by Lorenzo Perez (3 for 3 H, 3 R, 1 RBI).

Perez was followed by Jacob Nunez (2 for 2 H, 2 R, 2 RBIs), Giovanni Oates (2 for 3 H, 2 R, 2 RBIs), Adrian De La Cruz (1 for 1 H, 2 R, 1 RBI), Andrew Lopez (2 for 2 H, 2 R, 2 RBIs) and Damien Morales (2 for 3 H, 2 R, 1 RBI).

On Thursday, the Cougars used an 11-strikeout pitching performance by Jacob Nunez and two more strikeouts from Grayson Houtekamer to stymie the Dos Palos offense. Creekside added an eight-hit offensive attack to shut out the Broncos by 9–0.

After the game, Nunez told the Express, “We really wanted to play well against them because they are our rivals, and we scored early and often, and I was able to overpower them with my fastball.”

Oates, the Cougars leadoff batter, set the table for Creekside with two walks, two runs scored, a sacrifice bunt and an RBI sacrifice fly.

Nunez reached base three times and scored two runs, Lopez doubled and scored a run and drove in two runs, and De La Cruz singled and drove in three runs for Los Banos.
