A head-on collision at approximately 12:51 a.m. Oct. 30 in the southbound lanes of I-5 resulted in the death of both drivers.

A 2008 Honda and a 2017 Isuzu box truck crashed north of Volta Road, blocking the southbound lanes.

According to a collision report released by California Highway Patrol, officers reported that upon arrival it was determined the 2008 Honda was driving northbound at an unknown rate of speed, and traveled off the paved roadway driving across the dirt and grass center median into the I-5 southbound lanes, where it then collided head-on with the 2017 Isuzu box truck.

Both vehicles were completely engulfed in flames and sustained major front-end damage as a result of the crash.

According to the CHP report. the driver of the Honda, 18 year-old Kristopher Rose from Pleasant Hill, California, and the driver of the Isuzu, whose identity is still unconfirmed, were pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire personnel. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision, the CHP report stated.
