A man is in custody after firing a rifle in a neighborhood on the Eastside of Los Banos.

At 8:35 p.m. on Aug. 2, Los Banos police officers were dispatched after receiving a report of shots fired near Carrington Pointe Apartments on San Luis Street in Los Banos.

According to Jesus Parras, the Los Banos police sergeant, the shooter was driving a red pickup truck with black rims.

In searching the area, officers identified a truck matching the description in Home Depot’s parking lot. Upon questioning the driver, it was soon determined it was not the person in question.

During their investigation, officers found shell casings on Canal Farm Lane near the backside of the apartments.

The driver of the pickup, Luis Larios, was arrested without incident and booked into jail on charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance while possessing a loaded firearm, a felon in possession of a firearm and assault with a firearm on a person.
