A resident of South Dos Palos sustained major injuries after an early morning collision between a car and a bicycle.

The accident occurred last Friday morning at 7:41 a.m., according to the Los Banos office of the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said that Kenneth Harmon, 65, of South Dos Palos, was riding a mountain bike eastbound on Christian Avenue east of South Eli Avenue.

At the same time, Ameer Kaur, 20, of Dos Palos, was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry eastbound on Christian Avenue approaching the rear of the bicycle.

A spokesman for the CHP said that for unknown reasons, Kaur failed to see the bicyclist and impacted the rear of the bicycle.

“Mr. Harmon was ejected from his bike and impacted the roadway,” the spokesman stated.

He added that Harmon sustained major injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital in Modesto.

The driver of the Toyota did stop and remained at the scene.  Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.
