The Los Banos American Legion and VFW Commanders have worked hard to bring resources for our local veterans to the Westside.  They know what a challenge it is to drive an hour or more for assistance.

We are excited to announce that these services have been so well utilized that Merced County Veteran Services has added additional dates to assist veterans in Los Banos and neighboring areas.

Now a Veteran Service Representative from Merced will be at the Los Banos Veterans Hall located at 615 E St in Los Banos four times a month. The VSR will be in Los Banos on the first, third and fourth Thursdays of the month and on the second Wednesday of the month. On each day the representative will be in the hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The service representative can assist a veteran in a variety of areas, such as service-connected disability claims, pension claims, survivors’ benefits claims, pre-need applications for National Cemetery, college fee waiver applications (for the State of California only), and VA health applications, to name a few.

Please note that if you are a veteran who has never been to the Merced County Veterans Office, you will need to bring your DD214 with you when you visit the Los Banos Veterans Memorial Hall;  otherwise, the representative will not be able to access your records.

If you do not have your DD214, visit archives.gov and follow the steps to request it. Be sure to keep the confirmation email with the reference number in case you need to follow up.

Additionally, a Fresno Veteran Center Representative is available at the Veterans Memorial Hall to help register veterans into the Fresno Health Care system.
