Three Los Banos nonprofit groups recently received donations from Anderson Homes.

The Friends of the Los Banos Public Library received $1,000, the Police Activities League (PAL) received $1,000 and the Los Banos Volunteer Firefighters received $1,000.

The donations were part of “Giving Back Starts at Home,” Anderson Homes promotion in which a new Los Banos homeowner chooses one of the three nonprofits for a $500 donation from the Anderson family. This year the promotion, in its sixth year, ran from Oct. 1 to Dec.10.

The Anderson Family has donated $75,500 since the program’s inception in 2018 to nonprofit organizations in both Los Banos and Hollister, where new homeowners can choose from among five nonprofits.

Gerry Giesel, the treasurer of the Friends of the Los Banos Library, received the check on Dec. 21 for the Friends from Gina Waldron, a Los Banos representative of Anderson Homes.

“This donation means a lot to the Friends of the Los Banos Library,” Giesel said. “We will use the funds to help the local public library buy books and put on programs, especially for children.

“We appreciate that Anderson Homes values public libraries,” Giesel added, “which provide important services to members of the community of all ages.
