Julie, as friends and family called her, passed away at the age of 84 in Newman, CA. She was born and raised in Lynn, MA. by Rickard and Maybelle Donovan. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1956 and attended Salem Hospital School of Nursing graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1958. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a nurse and started her profession at Salem Hospital and the Abbott House in Lynn.
She married Robert Piwowarski in 1959 and together they celebrated their Irish and Polish cultures. They raised five children often taking them to the beach, skiing and camping. In 1976 they moved to Los Banos where Julie worked at Memorial Hospital Los Banos until retiring in 2003.
Julie was a fun-loving person who greeted everyone with a smile and made close friends wherever she went. She enjoyed the beach, traveling, swimming, skiing, reading, playing the piano and visiting with friends. She was a wonderful story teller and would always share stories of her life with friends and to the delight of her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, friend and nurse who will forever be missed.
Julie is preceded in death by her husband Robert; son John; brother Rickard; and nephews Sean and Ricky. She is survived by her son Robert; daughters Robin, Janice and Maryanne; grandchildren Erica (Alex), April and Robert; and great granddaughter Sierra.
A rosary will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Los Banos on Tuesday October 25th at 9:15 am followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 am.
