On Sept. 2 the Firebaugh Eagles football teams traveled to Caruthers to renew a long-standing rivalry with the Blue Raiders.

It was a very long night for the varsity Eagles, as they managed to cross the Caruthers goal line only once, on a quarterback keeper by Manuel Bautista.

Meanwhile, the Blue Raiders were marching up and down the field all night long and scored six touchdowns in route to a 42-7 victory.

In the junior varsity game, Firebaugh had a see-saw battle with Caruthers, with each team scoring multiple times.

A turnover by the Eagles late in the game proved fatal as the Blue Raiders claimed a hard-fought  33-27 win over the JV Eagles.
