Los Banos Parks and Recreation celebrated the summer in style on June 25 at Movie Night in Creekside Park. Hundreds of residents enjoyed fun, games, inflatables, giveaways and a viewing of “The Sandlot.”

Over twenty volunteers helped to paint the basketball court, leaving a long-lasting legacy at the park. The paint is colorful and skid-free. Parks and Rec staff will be applying a second coat over the coming weeks.

Parks and Recreation will be hosting another Movie Night in the Park on August 6 at College Greens Park, where attendees can enjoy inflatables, fun games and a viewing of “Encanto” at no cost from 6 6to 10 p.m. The movie starts at dusk.

Los Banos Parks and Recreation is far from finished with the summer. Upcoming programs include Summer Youth Volleyball , which begins July 9. It is a fun indoor activity to keep cool during the heat. Co-ed Youth Fall Soccer is registering now for ages 3-14 and will begin in August.

On July 8 a Community Blood Drive will be held at the Community Center and on July 9t a community COVID-19 vaccination event will be available for free at the Community Center (645 7th St.).

Ongoing programs include new activities such as Beyond Essentials Yoga, Clase de Zumba, Youth Evolution sports camps and various classes. Ongoing classes such as Aikido and Turn Up with Sara dance exercises class are available to youth and adults, along with offerings of First Aid Certification and an upcoming 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament on September 17.

At the Community Center anyone can pick-up the latest copy of the Recreation Guide, also available now online at LosBanos.org under the Recreation page.

All community residents are invited to attend the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on July 19 at 6:00pm at City Hall (520 J St.) to keep up to date on projects and activities for the summer and fall.
