On Friday, Jan. 6, the Los Banos Tiger boys’ basketball teams traveled to Modesto to battle the Grace Davis Spartans. It was a night to remember for twin brothers Byron and Yahir Zuniga. Byron led the JV Tigers to a 50-47 overtime victory over Davis by scoring a season-high 22 points and grabbing six rebounds.

Varsity brother Yahir turned in a ‘double-double’ scoring 21 points and hauling down ten rebounds, as the Tigers routed the Spartans by the score of 66-36.

Yahir said after the game, “I needed one more point to catch Byron, but it was a great game for both of us and an important league game victories for our teams.”

In the JV game, Eric Ramos followed Byron with 15 points, including the winning free throws in overtime, and Gannon Lemos added four points and grabbed seven rebounds.

In the varsity game, The Tigers displayed a very balanced offense. After Zuniga’s 21 points, Evan Reboza and Anthony Blancarte each added eight points, and Caleb Robertson, Angel Resendez, and Anthony Michael had six points each.
