Tony Thomas Jr., was born in Eureka, CA on Aug. 14, 1943. His family settled in Turlock, CA. As a young boy he worked on his family’s dairy with his two older sisters.

After graduating from Turlock High School in 1961 he took a job as a truck driver for Pacific Sod in Patterson, CA. He then returned to run his family’s dairy.

In 1977 he relocated his family to Los Banos where he became the proud owner of the Los Banos gem, “Rooney’s Liquor”. For 37 years he owned and operated “Rooney’s Liquor” with his infectious smile and unique wit.

He was beyond proud that his store was #1 in beer sales in all of Merced County for many, many years. He also sold the most lottery tickets in Los Banos. He loved being the owner of his store where he formed and cultivated so many lifelong friendships within his community.

He was a master at telling jokes and making people laugh was his special talent. Tony’s compassionate and generous heart made everyone who walked into “Rooney’s” a friend.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Los Banos.
