Carmen Mary Hergenraeder, loving wife and mother of 3 children, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on May 15, 2023.
Carmen (Valladao) was born July 16, 1939 in Hilmar, CA. In 1943 her family moved to Volta (Los Banos) where she grew up on the family dairy farm.
After high school she worked in town at Rexall Drugs where she met her husband, Charles “Hergie” Hergenraeder, who was a merchant in downtown Los Banos. She raised 3 children while working part time in the family store. Later Carmen worked as a Deli/Bakery Clerk at Save Mart for sixteen years prior to retiring in 2004.
She was known for her beautiful warm smile and cheerful attitude. She was always ready for travel and adventure. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, travelling with her sisters, and participating in local clubs including The Native Daughters of the Golden West, St. Joseph Church Altar Society, and the Golden Agers.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Charles, sisters Mary and Adeline, and brothers Joe and Frank. She is survived by her children, Chuck (Lina), Bernadette (Brent), and Fred (Lynn), eight grandchildren, her brother John, and her sisters Theresa and Evelyn.
A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Los Banos. Place of burial will be Los Banos District Cemetery, Los Banos.
