As you all know, I am a certified master arborist and am offering my consulting services to anyone here in the Westside. Currently, I work with other arborists as far south as Fresno and Monterey Counties.

These are levels of risk assessment reports I can provide.

Level one is a limited visual assessment and is reserved for large-scale assessments to identify the most obvious of hazards, potentially from a few angles. Level two or three assessments can be recommended for specific trees and can be used for trees with difficult or restricted access.

Prices for these can vary per tree on top of the base rate, depending on how much information is requested and the size of the project.

Level two is the ground-based basic assessment where the assessor walks completely around the tree to check all parts, including the root flare, basal area, trunk, major lateral branching and crown.

Tools that may be used during this assessment include a mallet, probes, pruners, measuring devices, binoculars, an endoscope, a magnifying lens and digging tools that can dig up to 12 inches deep. Pricing is based on a base rate that may include additional costs, depending on the service.

Level three is the advanced assessment and is a technique that is generally used when more in-depth or invasive procedures are needed to make tree management decisions. The trees included would be cultural, historical or personally significant trees, heritage trees or protected trees.

This level will include drilling for internal decay mapping and using a ladder to get a wider view of the tree, about 15 feet above soil level. This year, I am working on obtaining a commercial drone license to add to this service category.

Additional services include laboratory testing of soil and tissue, which I can provide. This is also a base rate and additional cost for the soil analysis report.
